Mary Armour was born in Blantyre. She attended Hamilton academy where she was taught by Penelope Beaton. Mary Armour studied at GSA from 1920 and lectured there in still life from 1951 until 1962. She mainly painted flower and other still lifes in oil and watercolour.
Mary Armour ceased painting in1988 due to failing eyesight.
